WHAT YOU’LL NEED:
- A small bowl (ceramic, wood, or stone)
- Water (rainwater, moon water, or tap water blessed with your intention)
- A white candle (for the light half of the year)
- A black candle (for the dark half of the year)
- A pinch of salt
- Something from your recent harvest (a dried flower, an herb, a seed, a stone you found, a word you wrote)
THE RITUAL:
SET YOUR SPACE
Find a quiet corner — inside or outside, wherever you can sit undisturbed for 10 minutes.
Place the bowl in front of you. Fill it halfway with water.
LIGHT THE CANDLES
Place the white candle on the left (representing the light half of the year — spring and summer).
Place the black candle on the right (representing the dark half of the year — autumn and winter).
Light both. Speak aloud:
“Day and night stand in balance. I honor what has been. I welcome what is coming.”
ADD THE SALT
Drop a pinch of salt into the water. Speak aloud:
“I cleanse what no longer reasonates with my greatest good. I release what I’ve carried that is not mine to hold.”
Let the salt dissolve.
OFFER YOUR HARVEST
Hold the object you brought (the flower, herb, seed, stone, or word).
Reflect: What did you harvest this year? Not just food or flowers. What wisdom, clarity, rest, grief, creative work, relationships, devotion did you harvest?
Speak it aloud. Then place the object in the bowl or beside it as an offering.
“I give thanks for what has come. I honor what I have gathered. I release what is ready to go.”
SPEAK YOUR INTENTION FOR THE DARK HALF
The light is waning. The dark months are an invitation to turn inward, to rest, to dream, to conjure in the unseen.
Ask yourself: What do I want to create, restore, or become in the darker half of the year?
Speak it aloud. Let the water hold it.
“As the wheel turns, I commit to [your intention]. I trust the dark as much as the light.”
CLOSING THE RITUAL
Sit for a moment in silence. Watch the candles burn.
When you’re ready, blow out the white candle first (releasing the light half). Then blow out the black candle (honoring the dark half to come).
Pour the water onto the earth (or into a plant) as an offering.
The threshold is crossed.
WHAT TO DO WITH YOUR HARVEST BUNDLE:
- Keep it on your altar through the autumn
- Bury it at Samhain (October 31) as a final release
- Carry it with you as a talisman of what you’ve gathered.

*If you join me at Come To The Fire, you can bring your harvest bundle with you!

A one-night amazing seasonal gathering at the studio.
This night is meant to gather, to conjure, to create something by hand, circled around the cauldron, in ceremony with other women who know the world is alive.
We’ll work with herbs, oils, dirt, fire, and ritual to mark the season’s turning – building something tangible to carry into the darker months ahead.
October 24.
