Kantha Blankets :: $25 – Retail for $60++ locally

Images do not represent the exact blankets available – Will only be available during the Open Studio
All About Kantha and why I love them
Kantha pronounced k-AH-ntha (meaning: “patched cloth”. In Sanskrit it means rags) refers to both the tradition of producing these unique, hand-stitched quilted blankets making something useful and beautiful out of discarded (recycled items), as well as the craft and stitch itself; a small, straight running stitch.
Old cloth is believed to protect one from harm and often several generations would work on the same heirloom quilt together. This evolved from the thriftiness of rural women in the Bengali region making do with what they had and is now done today in the eastern Indian states of West Bengal and Orissa, and Bangladesh. These support many displaced & underprivileged women and families in Indian villages as they are purchased “Fair Trade“. By shopping fair trade, you can avoid fueling companies around the world that profit off of slave labor AND provide fair wages and dignified, sustainable employment for individuals in developing countries.
Your purchase allows me to continue supporting these communities.
These are SO precious, beautiful, and very affordable! Each is unique and one-of-a-kind and has a gorgeous bohemian flair.
They are a twin-size spread (60″X90″ Inches 100% Cotton).
Some things you can do with them;
- Use for couch covers, throws, table covers, curtains, beach/picnic blankets.
- Cut down to make smaller blankets or back with other fabrics (such as Minky, fleece or flannel).
- Make pillows, purses, and even clothing.
- I keep one in my car at all times to protect my carpet and seats from garden supplies, groceries, pets, random stops on road trips, and outdoor concerts.
- Great to take to yoga or meditation classes. They fold/roll up nicely to fit in your bag. They also fold up small enough to easily take in a carry-on bag too!
- You can sew a couple together to make a larger spread. They wash up so easily!
These also make wonderful gifts for those who love an eclectic and bohemian vibe in their home.

Perfect for those who love an eclectic and bohemian vibe in their home.
